It has been a whirlwind week for Leipsic (Ohio) offensive tackle Gavin Cupp. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect had been previously committed to Michigan State but after competing at the Ohio State Friday Night Lights camp last week, the Spartans decided to go in a different direction. Cupp's workout in Columbus appears to have paid off, with the Buckeyes offering a scholarship on Thursday afternoon.
Cupp confirmed the offer in a message to BuckeyeGrove.com. Some of Cupp's other major offers include; Cincinnati, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Pittsburgh, and Virginia.
"It's huge," Cupp told Rivals.com Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt. "(It's a) childhood dream."
Cupp is the No. 16 rated prospect in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com and the No. 31 offensive tackle prospect nationally in the 2016 recruiting class. Stay tuned for more on this story in the near future.
