Things can often move very quickly in recruiting and that was the case this week with Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral linebacker Pete Werner. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect quietly made an unofficial visit to Ohio State two weeks ago before decommitting from Notre Dame the next day.

Werner, who had been committed to the Fighting Irish since March, then promptly committed to Ohio State on Sunday after wrapping up his scheduled official visit to Ohio State. The four-star linebacker confirmed his commitment to BuckeyeGrove.com in a text message.

"Ohio State is the greatest and most well respected university," Werner said.

Werner had been offered by Ohio State back in the Winter, but had never made a visit to Columbus until this past weekend.

He is commitment No. 17 for Ohio State's second ranked 2017 recruiting class. He is rated the No. 3 prospect in the state of Indiana.
