The Buckeyes went back to the state of Texas to land its fourth Texan in the class of 2017 as Zach Smith and Urban Meyer flipped former Missouri wide receiver commit Elijah Gardiner to the Buckeyes with just hours until National Signing Day.

Gardiner picked up his offer as part of an official visit to Ohio State over the weekend and then a tough decision had to be made. Go with the Buckeyes, the new team showing interest down the stretch? Or stay with Missouri, the team that had been recruiting him for months and months? Gardiner went with the first option.

The addition of Gardiner gives the Buckeyes another tall target as the three-star is listed at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds out of Kemp (Texas), a town of less than 1,200 that is about an hour out of Dallas.

Gardiner went public with his commitment to Missouri in mid-December of 2016 but had been part of the class reportedly for more than a month prior than that. One of the schools that had been recruiting Gardiner before his commitment was Indiana, the very school that Kevin Wilson was the head coach of.

Now Wilson is at Ohio State and Gardiner was a player that he wanted the Buckeyes to take a second look at. Things came together quickly as the Buckeyes went to Kemp's school a week ago and convinced the tall receiver to take a visit to Columbus. Gardiner obliged with the official visit and now he is a member of the Ohio State recruiting class.

The Buckeyes offered Gardiner during his visit and obviously, the new Ohio State commit liked what he saw but needed to take a little time to sort things out before accepting and becoming the 20th member of the Ohio State recruiting class.

Gardiner may have gone unnoticed by many people because he has only played wide receiver for two years after playing several other positions earlier in his career.

There is no shortage of height in Ohio State's recruiting class at wide receiver with Gardiner and Trevon Grimes both listed at 6-foot-5 and Jaylen Harris listed at 6-foot-4.

Ohio State is hoping to strike one more time in Texas with Houston defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and everyone will find out how that one will go on National Signing Day as the Buckeyes battle Florida State and heavily favorited LSU for the nation's No. 2 player.

We will have more on Ohio State's latest commitment as we are now inside of 100 hours until National Signing Day.
