Ohio State lands big commitment from Georgia defensive end

The last week and a half has been quite a ride for four-star defensive end Brenton Cox. The ride ended on Tuesday, with the Rivals250 product committing to Ohio State. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Stockbridge (Ga.) product visited Ohio State for its spring game last weekend and set an announcement date for this past Sunday and things were looking good for the Buckeyes.

However, a push back from Georgia during the week, culminating in a Saturday visit to Athens, scrambled things up for the nation's No. 8 weak-side defensive end. But after a few days locked in thought and discussion with his family, Cox reverted back to the feelings he had when leaving Columbus two weekends ago.

Cox's commitment is a major one for Ohio State as defensive end is a position that will need replenished in the 2018 class. Ohio State is set to lose seniors Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis and fourth-year junior Sam Hubbard is a strong possibility for early entry into the 2018 NFL draft.

The Buckeyes have made the state of Georgia a huge priority since Urban Meyer was hired and this is the second huge pull out of the Peach State, joining five-star quarterback Emory Jones who played a big role in helping lure Cox to Columbus.
