Brendon White shows his passion for the Buckeyes as a recruiter

Brendon White is a strong recruiter for the Buckeyes because he wanted to be a part of the team for most of his life. We caught up with him at the RCS: Columbus stop to talk about playing the role of recruiter and what being a Buckeye means to him.

OBETZ, Ohio – Ohio State commit Brendon White is a competitor and is always looking to get better at the game of football but his recruiting skills are something that he is working on developing as well and he may rival fellow commit Danny Clark for the position of top recruiter in the class by the end of the cycle.

White took part in Saturday's Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour and was flanked by 2018 target Jaelen Gill, a close friend who White is trying to bring into the fold for the Buckeyes. Also at the camp was linebacker Antjuan Simmons out of Ann Arbor (Mich.) and Simmons credited White as one of the players who made him feel welcome and contributed to his eventual commitment to the Buckeyes.

"I love it, just meeting new guys and meeting where they are from and how they play football and their background and everything," White said. "It is really good meeting new people."

Of course up until now everyone has said that Danny Clark has been the biggest recruiter in the class and White feels that he is close to where Danny is in terms of playing that role but would still have to give Danny the edge, at least for now.

"I say Danny probably because he has been committed longer and is used to it but I am getting there," White said. "Give me another month or so and I will be there next to him."

The coaches are well aware of who does a good job on the recruiting front and White has been given some marching orders on who to talk to. It comes naturally for White and he has been working hard on trying to flip one major target while keeping another target from flipping away from the Buckeyes.

"I have been trying to work on Tate Martell when he came up here, still working on Jaelen Gill and I keep in touch with the other recruits like Shaun Wade because people think he is going to decommit but I don't think that he will, I keep in touch with him as well," White said. "All of the commits that I have right now and any time they give me a guy to start talking to."

Landing the Ohio State offer and eventually committing to Ohio State was a dream come true for White and he hopes that other players can take the same kind of pleasure out of that decision like he did. But it was a little different for White, the son of former Buckeye and NFL veteran William White going through the process and looking to earn that Ohio State offer.

"It was a dream come true," White said. "Me being a young kid, like at the age of five I wanted to be a Buckeye and watching my dad play, watching his film and everything and always going to games and practices it was a big dream. When I got that offer, I actually shed some tears because it was my dream school and my dream came true."

Check out what else White had to say about recruiting and his own journey to the Buckeyes in this exclusive video from the RCS: Columbus stop.
