Beyond the Final Whistle - Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Buckeyes finally broke into the win column in Big Ten play and took the Fighting Illini from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 17-7 win on Saturday afternoon. The Buckeyes completed a grand total of ONE pass, but that pass went from Braxton Miller to Jake Stoneburner and resulted in a big touchdown as the Buckeyes fed Illinois a steady diet of ground game.

On the flipside of things the Illini couldn't get things on track and were kept off the scoreboard for a good part of the game. Nathan Scheelhaase was limited to 49 yards on the ground and 169 via the air (along with two interceptions).

But the biggest part of the story was the return of Dan Herron for the Buckeyes and Boom delivered exactly what the Buckeyes needed, 114 net yards rushing on 23 carries and a five yard per carry average.

We're breaking things down from the Illinois campus and have our latest installment of Beyond the Final Whistle.
