Babb inks with the Buckeyes

Babb was a priority target for the entire recruiting process.

While landing highly ranked prospects is never a bad thing for college football programs, even more important for these schools is hitting on the players that they identify as 'must gets' early in the process.

Ohio State was able to do that with St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers wide receiver Kamryn Babb. The Rivals250 product inked his Letter of Intent with the Buckeyes on Wednesday, finalizing a recruitment that lasted well over a year. Babb was offered and prioritized very early in the process by Ohio State and the Buckeyes held the lead for his services pretty much the entire way up to his December commitment.

Now the four-star prospect is officially a member of the Ohio State program. Babb kept a pretty low profile during his recruiting process, but amassed offers from all over the nation. While he was considered Ohio State's to lose over much of the past year, programs such as LSU and Michigan also made strong pushes at various points.

It looked like Ohio State would land Babb over the summer, but as it got closer to the target range of July, Babb decided to hold off and backed off of committing to a certain time frame to make his choice. Further complicating Babb's recruiting process was a torn ACL suffered in August. But Ohio State stuck with the four-star prospect through that injury and Babb ends up signing where he was pretty much always expected to go.

Babb is ranked the No. 165 overall prospect in the Rivals250 for the 2018 recruiting class and he will enroll at Ohio State this summer.
