Alex Williams to sign with Ohio State

The drum beats continued to get louder in recent days, but the news was made public on Tuesday that Pickerington (Ohio) North defensive lineman Alex Williams will back off of his commitment to West Virginia and sign with Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect resisted advances from Ohio State, Michigan, and many others throughout the summer, staying solid with his West Virginia pledge. But Ohio State was able to gain some traction recently with the local standout and Williams will now become a member of the Buckeyes' 2018 recruiting class.

A press release was issued by Pickerington Local School District indicating that Williams would be signing with the Buckeyes on Wednesday afternoon. This has now been confirmed independently.

Williams starred on the defensive line this season for Pickerington North but has been recruited to play a variety of positions by different schools, such as defensive line, tight end, or even offensive tackle. Ohio State is recruiting Williams as a jumbo-athlete who could ultimately end up on either side of the football but will let Williams' response to the strength and conditioning program dictate his future.
