COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State fans have been counting down the minutes until they can see quarterback turned wide receiver Torrance Gibson take the field. Gibson too has been waiting for his opportunity to take the field for the Buckeyes but now knows he was not ready in 2015.
"Last year I was not ready," Gibson said during Ohio State's media day. "In my head, I thought I was but the coaches knew that I was not ready to play."
Everything appeared to come easy to the former four-star quarterback out of Plantation (Fla.). Gibson was a prized recruit that had no shortage of wow plays both on the high school and 7-on-7 level.
NUGGET: Saturday Scrimmage Thoughts
The transition from high school star to college player is a steep one. It is not something that happens overnight for players who have been playing their position for the entire lives, let alone someone who has switched positions within the last 12 months.
"Those were the days right there. South Florida Express (Gibson's 7-on-7 team), those were the days," Gibson said. "I loved playing 7-on-7 because you could just do… you just have fun and just play the game. Those were the days, I miss those days."
