2023 WR out of North Carolina recaps Tuesday camp experience at Ohio State

Chris Culliver has seen his recruitment take some key steps in recent weeks.

After collecting offers from Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina, Culliver received the green light from ACC programs North Carolina and Virginia Tech this month. Five days after hauling in an offer from the Tar Heels, South Carolina became the first SEC school to dip into his recruitment earlier today.

This is a special time for Culliver, but he is not resting on his laurels.

“I like it,” Culliver told BuckeyeGrove’s Kevin Noon this week. “I’m happy I’m finally here. But I’m not done yet, so I hope to get more offers than this.”

As he stated above, Culliver’s goal is to earn more offers in his recruitment before it’s all said and done. A great way to get on the radar of college football programs is to hit the camp circuit, and Culliver did just that by camping at Ohio State on Tuesday.

“I loved it,” Culliver said. “Good coaches. Coaches really care for and want the best for you. That’s the best thing about it here… I learned everything I needed to learn here.”

“That’s the reason I came to this camp for: Put my name out there and hopefully get these big offers,” Culliver added. “I’ve got some stuff to work on, but I put something in their heads to think about.”

With area recruiter Kevin Wilson leading the way, the Buckeyes have done well while recruiting in North Carolina, which Culliver has taken notice of. They’ve signed Jaden McKenzie, Jacolbe Cowan and Evan Pryor over the past three cycles, and four-star Benji Gosnell is committed to the program.

“Yes sir, it’s very cool,” Culliver said. “I’m out of North Carolina, too.”

Culliver currently holds offers from Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina, South Carolina, Towson and Virginia Tech.

An offer from Ryan Day’s staff has not been extended to Culliver just yet, but he’s keeping an eye on Ohio State and what they’ve accomplished as a program. More specifically, Culliver is aware of their success on the field and development of players for the next level.

“I know that it’s a winning program and they send all their guys off,” Culliver said. “Coach Wilson has been here for a few years, and he sent all of his guys to the NFL. That right there says something about his coaching.”

Culliver, a product of Maiden (North Carolina), checks in at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.
