The class of 2019 in Ohio could be a special one along the defensive line. West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West product Steven Faucheux is already becoming a highly recruited prospect. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive end holds early offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Iowa State, Maryland and Tulane.

Another Big Ten offer could be coming later this week and who knows what could be in store when the versatile lineman gets up to Columbus (Ohio) for a visit.

"I am visiting Indiana this coming weekend and I'm trying to figure something out with Ohio State," said Faucheux. "I haven't set the date yet (with Ohio State), just trying to get up there."

Faucheux has already had some contact with the Ohio State staff and was invited to a recent Junior Day but had prior arrangements.

"I got invited to their Junior Day but it was the same weekend that I was going down to Auburn," he continued. "I've talked to coach Coombs a little bit prior to that."

Ohio State is a school that has Faucheux's attention early in the process and he hopes to learn more about the program whenever he is able to setup a visit.

"It's definitely a great university and I'd love to see more of it," he said. "Especially because it's right there only about an hour and a half drive away. It's a great school and you can't go wrong with it so I'm definitely interested."

Faucheux is pushing 6-foot-5 and has already put on about 20-pounds since the season ended. With that type of height and frame, his future position is still very much in question.

"I've been told that I'm really good at getting off blocks and I have a good pass rush," he said. "I guess those are the two main areas that coaches saw that they liked. I've been told with my quickness that I could be moved to left tackle in college, that's if I continue to grow more. I've also moved told I could move down to defensive tackle. I'd like to be a five or a three-tech. I'd like to be an outside guy if it's a three-man front or a three-tech in a four-man front but I'm just keeping my options open on that."

Because he projects to possibly three different premium positions, the interest from colleges won't be going away any time soon. Right now, Faucheux is just taking it all in but he knows what will ultimately make the difference for him.

"I'm really interested in the family side of it," he said. "My parents have told me that they are developing me until I have to go off to college and that my development isn't finished there, they are passing me off to the coaches to finish that off. I'm looking for somewhere that every time I go outside of my dorm, I feel welcome. Down the road we'll start looking at majors as well."
