CANTON, Ohio - Western Pennsylvania is always loaded with talent and the 2019 class will be no different. One prospect who is emerging from the area right now is Pittsburgh (Pa.) Serra Catholic wide receiver Corey Thomas. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect starred at both safety and wide receiver on Saturday at the NextGen Show at the Hall in Northeast Ohio.

Thomas, a varsity starter as a freshman at Serra Catholic is already hearing from Power Five programs around the nation.

"I've heard from North Carolina, Florida State, Purdue, and West Virginia," said Thomas.

One program that Thomas is hoping to hear from resides about three hours west of his home.

"Ohio State, that's a big one," he said. "I really like their offense, their fans, but really their offense."

Two in-state programs are also on Thomas' radar as he hopes to hear more from them moving forward.

"I like Pitt, they are the hometown school," he said. "I also like Penn State. I've been up there a few times, the atmosphere is crazy."

A wide receiver by trade, Thomas showed a lot of fluidity and range at safety during the 7-on-7 portion of the NextGen camp. Working on defense is all part of the process for Thomas who wants to show he can do multiple things well.

"It's something that I'm trying to work on," he said. "I want to get better (on defense) and become a total athlete."

Thomas is a 7-on-7 teammate of class of 2017 Ohio State target and five-star defensive back Lamont Wade.
