2018 OG Emil Ekiyor already making a name

INDIANAPOLIS – Monday's Best of the Midwest Combine saw many of the top players in the region take part. One player that was there but did not go through drills was class of 2018 offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor out of Cathedral high school in Indianapolis.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound guard prospect already holds a slew of offers and while he may not be ready to consistently name a top-five, it appears that Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan and Notre Dame have really piqued his interest.

One school that could make a move with Ekiyor however are the Buckeyes, who have yet to offer but have been in pretty steady contact with the class of 2018 star.

"I have talked to coach (Kerry) Coombs and coach (Ed) Warinner," Ekiyor said. "I have actually talked to them a lot pretty recently. They are trying to get me up there on some visits soon. Hopefully that goes well."

Ekiyor puts the chances of taking a spring visit as "very high" but the big-time lineman has a couple of visits set for the next couple of weeks.

"I really have not done too many visits yet, I plan to go (out) a lot in spring ball," Ekiyor said. "I am going to Indiana this weekend and Michigan State the following weekend."

The Cathedral high school product says he is well aware of what the Buckeyes have done in recent years and their success and program definitely interest him.

"They have just been a great program for a long time," Ekiyor said. "They really have a storied tradition and they are just a great school."

With almost two full years to go the future offensive guard has a lot of time to mull over a decision. Does he see this thing going all the way until NSD 2018 or maybe ending it earlier as someone who is already sitting on more than a dozen offers at this point of the game?

"Sometimes I want to get it over with and sometimes I (feel like) should just wait and stick it out and explore all my options. I really have not decided yet. I would rather do it sooner than later," Ekiyor said.
