2012 Year in review: September-December

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With the 2012 calendar year coming to an end, so does a year that saw Ohio State athletics enjoy a Big Ten regular season championship, a run to the Final Four, a conference division title, and the sixth unbeaten season in a program's history. Buckeye Grove was there to cover it all, and with that in mind, we'll take a look at the best- and some of the worst- that the Buckeyes had to offer over the course of the past 12 months.

September

The Urban Meyer era in Columbus kicked off with a win over Miami (OH) ... The Buckeyes found out that they were eligible to win the Big Ten Leaders Divsion championship ... The Buckeyes season continued with a win over Central Florida.

Corey Brown emerged as Ohio State's top receiver ... The Buckeyes narrowly escaped a 35-28 win over California ... Which was followed by a motivational speech from John Simon.

Despite another slow start, the Buckeyes beat UAB ... Thanks in part to a career game from Doran Grant ... Ohio State escaped East Lansing with a win in Meyer's first Big Ten battle.

October

The Buckeyes blew out Nebraska in a primetime showdown at The Shoe ... Ohio State's 'Piranhas' got some pub ... The Buckeyes added a home and home with Texas for 2022 and 2023.

The Ohio State basketball team held its media day ... The Buckeyes managed to hold on to a 52-49 win at Indiana ... Which forced Luke Fickell to address the Ohio State defense.

Fullback Zach Boren moved to linebacker ... Kenny Guiton led an overtime win over Purdue ... Ohio State added Oregon to its 2020, 2021 schedules.

The Buckeyes went to Happy Valley and walked away with a victory over Penn State ... Which featured a heroic performance from Ryan Shazier.

November

The Buckeyes beat down on Illinois en route to a top-five ranking ... Ohio State enjoyed its bye week ... Condensation canceled the basketball team's Carrier Classic.

Kameron Williams and Marc Loving signed to play basketball for the Buckeyes in 2013 ... Ohio State won the Leaders Division championship with a win over Wisconsin ... Which saw John Simon record four sacks against the Badgers.

The Buckeyes won the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament ... Jae'Sean Tate and Keita Bates-Diop joined Ohio State basketball's 2014 recruiting class ... the Buckeyes unveiled new uniforms for their game against Michigan.

Meyer capped off an undefeated season with a win over Michigan ... Seven Buckeyes were named to the 2012 All-Big Ten team ... Braxton Miller was named the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Year ... While John Simon was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year ... The Ohio State basketball team lost a second half lead at Duke.

December

LaQuinton Ross scored 22 points in an OSU win over Northern Kentucky ... Miller was left out of the Heisman Trophy presentation ... Bret Bielema left Wisconsin for Arkansas, Darrell Hazell accepted the Purdue job.

Ohio State celebrated its 12-0 season ... Donovan Munger committed to play for the Buckeyes ... Mike Mitchell visited Ohio State ... Johnathan Hankins declared for the NFL Draft.

Three Buckeyes were named All-Americans ... Verlon Reed opted to leave the Ohio State program ... The Buckeyes lost to Kansas for the third time in 13 months.
