2012 Year in review: June-August

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With the 2012 calendar year coming to an end, so does a year that saw Ohio State athletics enjoy a Big Ten regular season championship, a run to the Final Four, a conference division title, and the sixth unbeaten season in a program's history. Buckeye Grove was there to cover it all, and with that in mind, we'll take a look at the best- and some of the worst- that the Buckeyes had to offer over the course of the past 12 months.

June

Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort were arrested for obstruction of justice ... Basketball transfer Rodney Hood visited Ohio State ... Urban Meyer held a camp for seniors and elite junior prospects.

Stoneburner and Mewhort had their scholarships removed for the summer quarter ... Buckeye football players posted a cumulative GPA of 2.88 ... Punter Johnny Townsend joined the Buckeyes' 2013 class.

Mickey Marotti kicked the Buckeyes' butts in the weight room ... The BCS adopted a playoff format for 2014 ... Jared Sullinger prepared for the NBA Draft ... Where he was taken by the Boston Celtics with the No. 21 overall pick.

Defensive tackle Michael Hill committed to play for the Buckeyes in 2013 ... Foot surgery forced Jordan Hall to miss 10 weeks.

July

Meyer responded to Jordan Hall's injury ... Storm Klein was arrested on domestic violence charges ... And was subsequently removed from the Ohio State roster.

Braxton Miller, Johnathan Hankins, and John Simon were named to the Maxwell Award watch list ... Jared Sullinger shined in his summer league debut ... Jake Stoneburner was named to the Mackey Award watch list .. And Drew Basil was named to the watch list for the Lou Groza Award.

Aaron Craft earned the Distinguished Scholar Award ... Hankins was named to the Nagurski Award, Outland Trophy watch lists ... C.J. Barnett was named to the Thorpe Award watch list ... Meyer responded to the college football playoff.

Etienne Sabino was named to the watch list for the Butkus Award ... Corey Brown joined the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award ... Miller was named to the watch list for the O'Brien Award ... And despite injury, Jordan Hall was selected for the Doak Walker award watch list.

Taivon Jacons committed to play for the Buckeyes ... Penn State was handed severe sanctions ... Meyer made his Big Ten media day debut ... Ohio State held its Friday Night Lights recruiting event ... Offensive lineman Timothy Gardner committed to the Buckeyes for 2013.

August

Meyer spoke on his failed recruitment of LeBron James ... Ohio State opened up its first fall camp under Meyer ... A grueling camp, at that.

Ohio State held its media day ... Adam Bellamy left the Buckeyes' program ... Klein was reinstated after his charges were dropped.
