SAN ANTONIO - Chris Whaley was a model of consistency during his high school career at Madisonville (Texas) High.
The four-star running back rushed for 6,159 yards and 79 touchdowns as a sophomore, junior and senior. He averaged nine yards per carry.
"I think I can keep picking up big numbers at the next level," said Whaley, who will play his college football at the University of Texas. "I'm a consistent, hard runner."
Whaley committed to the Longhorns four days after Class of 2008 five-star running back prospect Darrell Scott announced he was signing with Colorado instead of Texas.
"Back then they were telling me that I am the running back they wanted so it didn't matter that they didn't get Darrell Scott," Whaley said. "I went there on my Junior Day [in February] and I committed."
Whaley is currently in San Antonio, where he is preparing for the U.S. Army All-American game.
"It is a great experience to play with the best players from across the country," he said. "My goal is to showcase my skills and prove that I belong here."
