Army Bowl: Fan Q&A

Follow Noon | Givler | Maks | Holleran | AndyMac

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Army Bowl week is always a great experience for the athletes participating. While the interviews about the recruiting process can become very mundane, we switched it up a little bit and allowed our members to ask submit some questions to the recruits down in San Antonio. Below, we take a look at some of the highlights of the Q&A session.

Q: Is there a younger guy in the (Cleveland Glenville) program that fans should keep an eye on?

Erick Smith: I'm going to go from the sophomores up to the juniors. We have two twins that are sophomores, Devonte Houston and Deandre Houston (ATH prospects), they can really play. We have Aaron Pope a sophomore wide receiver. Juniors we have Sam McKnight a defensive end, Milan Golden defensive end/outside linebacker, another linebacker Justice Hart and we have Trevon Story. Trevon and Milan already have offers from Georgia Tech and Kentucky. I think Sam McKnight is going to be that next guy at Glenville.

Q: How big of a factor is the weather, good or bad, in the decision?

Jalyn Holmes: It can be a big factor coming from a place like Florida where it's hot all the time. Coming from Virginia, I get the best of both worlds because it gets hot and cold so it wasn't really a big factor for me personally. It's a factor for kids from the South going to the North though.

Q: Who has been the best recruiter of the committed (OSU) players while you have been there and what has been the best "tactic" used?

Holmes: Me. My best tactic is I just tell everybody that I'm recruiting that I can't guarantee you anything except that I'm going to keep it one hundred percent truthful with you all the time. That's probably my best tactic.

Dixon: Jalyn (Holmes). He's just real cool, from day one he was just real cool and he went real hard when he knew I was interested in Ohio State.

Q: Who is your celebrity crush?

Holmes: My celebrity crush is Meagan Good, that's a good one.

Dixon: (Pleads the fifth).

Q: Do you spend time reading what fans say about you on recruiting sites and message boards?

Holmes: No, I don't. My older cousin does that stuff but I really don't.

Dixon: I read some of the stuff but not all of it. I think a lot of it is funny.

Q: Which of the players have impressed you the most this week?

Dixon: We didn't do too much one-on-one's but on our team, Artavis Scott has been playing along side of me. He's been doing really good.

I'd have to say Demetrius Johnson and Josh Malone. They are tall receivers and you have to get real physical with them and Nick Chubb. He's tough to tackle coming out of the backfield, that dude is gonna be good.

Q: (For Johnnie Dixon) Is there a receiver in college or the NFL that you compare yourself to and if so, what are some similar characterisitics?

Dixon: Probably Andre Johnson and Dez Bryant. They're physical, they're hard workers, and they're big and fast.

Q: I would be interested in hearing from Samuel and Lattimore what position the Ohio State coaching staff has told them in terms of position?

Lattimore: I'm starting out at corner. They said I could maybe play some wide receiver but I'm basically going to be a corner.

Samuel: I feel comfortable playing either side of the ball but I'm going to be playing offense and be used like Percy Harvin. It's going to be great because my offense is similar to Ohio State's so it's going to be a lot of the same stuff.
