COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Thanks to a resurgent LaQuinton Ross, Ohio State remains unbeaten.

Days after routing Maryland in a Big Ten/ACC challenge bout, the No. 5/3 Buckeyes overpowered Central Connecticut State, 74-56, Saturday afternoon at the Schottenstein Center.

Ross, who scored 20 points in a 76-60 blowout of the Terrapins, totaled 23 points on nine-of-13 shooting. Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 17 points on a day that saw Ohio State connect 53 percent and notch 26 points of the Blue Devil's 20 turnovers.

The Buckeyes were outrebounded, 29-28, but outscored their adversary, 40-34, in points in the paint.

Like so many times this season, the Buckeyes employed a tenacious defense -- particularly in the second half -- and held Central Connecticut State to 46 percent shooting and just 10-of-25 makes in the final 20 minutes.

Ohio State (8-0) is set to play Bryant Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center.
