The Grove Show: Episode 8
We taped this podcast on Thursday night, before Oregon fell apart and lost at Stanford, before Baylor trounced Oklahoma at home. Ohio State benefits greatly from the Ducks loss. Now, it looks like the only teams the Buckeyes have to worry about are: Alabama, Florida State, and Baylor.
Heading into Thursday night, this weekend was deemed (by me) as the biggest weekend in Ohio State football history since 2007, when Missouri and West Virginia, ranked No. 1 and No. 2, lost on a Saturday that November, propelling a Buckeye squad to its second-straight national championship.
The weekend isn't over. Alabama hosts LSU Saturday night. The Tide travel to Auburn at the end of the month, and likely will play in the SEC championship game against Missouri or South Carolina, but the odds say that Nick Saban's team's best chance for a loss will occur against the Tigers. Do Les Miles and Co. have enough to pull off the upset?
We make picks (forgive us both for picking Oregon) and discuss the weekend's slate, how the Big Ten's top four teams would stack up to the other top conference's top teams, and debate whether or not Ohio State's national title window closes after this season.
