Decision coming very soon for McLaurin

For the second time in less than two weeks, Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral wide receiver Terry McLaurin made his way to Columbus (Ohio) to camp with Ohio State. The 6-foot, 175-pound speedster turned in a big performance once again on Friday in front of head coach Urban Meyer and wide receivers coach Zach Smith.

"I worked out a little bit with coach Meyer when I first got there and I did some 1-on-1's after that," explained McLaurin. "After lunch I was kind of just waiting around, just waiting for the next thing to do and I went and talked to the strength coaches for a while with the tight end that was there that was offered from New Jersey (Mike Gesicki) and they talked about how important strength and flexibility training are and then we went back out (to the field) and did a standing reach and standing vertical for coach Meyer."

"They were starting to do 1-on-1's again and coach Meyer was there and I asked him what else he wanted to see from me and he said, 'Oh I've seen enough, you're good for the day, just hang out and after the camp I'll have somebody come over and (bring him inside the WHAC)'," McLaurin continued. "He said the improvements I made just over the last two weeks were very impressive and just showed how hard I work and how determined I was to get better."

After being put to the test by the Ohio State coaches for the second time in 12 days, McLaurin finally got the news he was waiting for on Friday afternoon.

"After that, (Meyer) cut to the chase and said I had an offer from Ohio State," McLaurin said. "He said that they would love to have me and that my speed is very elite and that I've been blessed by God with that speed and it was something that they would like to have in their offense."

If nothing else, the offer from Ohio State was proof to McLaurin that had work pays off after going through two intense workouts in such a short time frame.

"It's a great offer to have," he said. "To be thought of not only by Urban Meyer but by the Ohio State football program as one of the top players in the country is really humbling for me and a testament to how hard I've been working through this whole process."

With the offer now in hand, the Buckeyes join his previous top two to form not only a top three, but a final three.

"They're in my top three right now (along with Missouri and Purdue)," he said. "I'm going to be committing in the next few days, no later than Tuesday and it will be between those three schools. I'm still finishing up some things, talking to my parents, and hearing from the coaches and things like that but I'm basically wrapped up and will be making my commitment in the next couple of days."

With a commitment coming at virtually any moment, McLaurin understandably wants to keep things close to the vest but he did issue a comment on where the Buckeyes stand.

"They are in great standing with me," he said. "I've visited twice and camped so I've seen a lot of Ohio State and how their coaches coach and what they have to offer and things like that. I feel like they are in really good standing with me and are under high consideration on my part."
