Action packed weekend ahead

Follow Noon | Givler | Axelrod | Birmingham

It will be a busy weekend here at BuckeyeGrove.com as we will be taking in three camps/combines in three days as well as tracking a couple of big name visitors that are making their way to Columbus to meet with the coaching staff. Below, we preview all of this weekend's activities.

Buckeyes to host a couple of visitors

While things aren't expected to be as eventful as last weekend when the Buckeyes landed three verbal commitments in approximately an hour (though Lawrence Marshall has since de-committed), there will still be some visitors to keep an eye on this weekend.

Joliet (Ill.) Plainfield South linebacker Clifton Garrett will make yet another trip to Columbus this weekend before taking part in the Core6 Showcase down in Cincinnati on Sunday. The Buckeyes continue to be among the favorites to land the Rivals100 prospect, though a commitment this weekend would be a major surprise and is not expected.

Another player that has the Buckeyes high on his list is also expected in Gary (Ind.) West Side ATH Lonnie Johnson. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect is also going to be busy on the camp circuit this weekend and is expected to make a stop in Columbus while he is down in Buckeye State.

There has been some talk of Detroit (Mich.) Loyola defensive lineman Malik McDowell making an unofficial visit to Ohio State during the weekend as well but that is still very much up in the air and at this time we are not expecting McDowell to make it to Columbus.

Massillon Nike SPARQ combine

On Saturday morning the Nike SPARQ combine tour invades Massillon, Ohio and some top Ohio prospects are expected to be in attendance. Among the major prospects to watch are Ohio State commit Parris Campbell out of Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary, four-star Springfield wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass, and a pair of super class of 2015 prospects in Lakewood St. Edward ATH Shaun Crawford and Austintown-Fitch running back Darrin Hall.

Ohio State offensive line commit Kyle Trout could also potentially make it up if it doesn't conflict too much with his high school basketball schedule. Of course, several other major prospects will be attending so keep it here afterwards for plenty of updates from this event.

Core6 hits Cincinnati

The Core6 group out of Chicago is taking its show on the road and will be in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday afternoon. As mentioned above, Ohio State targets Clifton Garrett and Lonnie Johnson are both expected to work out.

Expected to join Garrett and Johnson on Sunday are a couple of big targets along the offensive and defensive line in Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle offensive tackle Jamarco Jones as well as the newly offered Dylan Thompson out of Lombard (Ill.) Montini. Thompson is a 6-foot-5, 270-pound prospect that could project just about anywhere along the offensive or defensive line.

Best of the Midwest wraps things up

Our three camps, three cities, in three days tour wraps up in Indianapolis in Monday with the always loaded Best of the Midwest event. Several Ohio State targets are expected to participate, some notables include; Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech DB Damon Webb, the Cleveland Glenville trio of Marcelys Jones, Marshon Lattimore, and Erick Smith, and class of 2015 Berea (Ky.) Madison Southern running back Damien Harris.

Earlier this week we did a full preview of the Best of the Midwest Combine and you can get all of the details to that report for FREE, right here.

Stay tuned to BuckeyeGrove.com throughout the weekend for coverage of all three of the above camps including interviews, highlights, and analysis.
