Seven from Virginia in Rivals100
Da'Shawn Hand, and seven prospects overall. What many expected to be a banner year in the Commonwealth of Virginia has now officially taken shape. In the initial Rivals100 for the 2014 class, the state boasts three five-star players, including the No. 1 overall player, Woodbridge defensive end
Virginia fans know plenty about fellow five-star standouts Quin Blanding and Andrew Brown.
Blanding is a 6-foot-2, 196-pound safety from Bayside, and checks in at No. 4 overall. He is down to 10 schools: Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UVa, and West Virginia. Many believe the race boils down to three: Virginia, FSU, and UNC with the Cavaliers holding a pretty big edge on the field.
Brown, meanwhile, is a 6-foot-4, 292-pound defensive tackle from Oscar Smith that comes in at No. 6 overall. He recently trimmed his list to 10: Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, UVa, and Virginia Tech.
Others inside the Rivals100 for 2014 from Virginia included Jalyn Holmes, Derrick Nnadi, Caleb Henderson, and Steven Moss.
Holmes, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound end from Lake Taylor who we reported on this morning, has chosen to open his recruitment back up and comes in at No. 30 in the Rivals100.
Not far behind him is Nnadi, the next player with strong UVa ties. The 6-foot-2, 288-pound defensive tackle from Ocean Lakes, checks in at No. 37 overall and has a host of offers, including UVa, Virginia Tech, and UNC.
The Commonwealth also is home to Henderson, a 6-foot-4, 223-pound signal caller from Lake Braddock, who is No. 65 overall. His top five include Oregon, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and North Carolina.
The final in-state member of the Rivals100 is also a UVa target. Moss, a 6-foot-4, 274-pound offensive lineman from Chancellor, comes in at No. 89 overall. Moss has declined to talk favorites but does have a length offer list that is up to nearly 20 as of now with more to follow.
