COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Big Ten and the Pac-12 recently gave up on a plan to have a conference 'partnership' that would see the two leagues play series in all sports, including football, starting at the back half of the decade. Once that fell through it was on teams in both leagues to start filling the void. On Tuesday the Buckeyes announced their first step to fill some of the holes in the schedule with a series against TCU of the Big XII.

Ohio State and TCU will play each other starting in 2018 and will have a home-and-home series with the 2018 game taking place at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth (Texas) with a return date to Columbus (Ohio) in 2019.

"Competing against programs from the state of Texas has always offered exciting experiences for our players and fans," Ohio State Director of Athletics Gene Smith said in a university provided release. "TCU continues to be one of the top football programs in the country."

The two schools are no stranger to one another and have played a total of six times but no games since 1973. The Buckeyes hold a 4-1-1 edge in the series with all games taking place in Columbus.

The game in 2018 will be played on September 15th in the Lone Star State and will be the first game that Ohio State has played in Texas since 2006 when the Buckeyes played the Texas Longhorns in Austin (Texas).

The return date will be in 2019 at Ohio Stadium on September 21st. For a list of Ohio State's upcoming schedules through 2019 Click Here.

TCU recently moved to the Big XII conference after the latest round of conference realignment and the Horned Frogs have been one of the most successful teams in college football over the past decade with 97 wins during those ten years. Only Boise State (109), LSU (102), Southern Cal (101) and Oklahoma (98) have more wins during that time period.
