Ohio's Best: Running Backs

Follow Noon | Rowland | Givler | Birmingham

The state of Ohio has produced several all-time greats at the running back position and has been very kind to the Buckeyes throughout their history. Recently players such as Maurice Clarett, Antonio Pittman, Beanie Wells, Brandon Saine, and Boom Herron have all had productive careers in Columbus after starring on the Ohio prep scene.

In the 2013 class, the Buckeyes targeted Warren Howland product Deveon Smith, though Smith ended up opting for Michigan instead. The commitment of four-star St. Louis (Mo.) product Ezekiel Elliott certainly helped to ease that sting for Ohio State fans and means that the Buckeyes will likely not sign an in-state prospect at the position for the 2013 cycle.

Still, several other Ohio backs will likely find themselves in Ohio Stadium at some point over the next four years playing against the Buckeyes so check out our Spring update of the top 10 running backs in Ohio for the class of 2013.
