Gorman solid to UF, doing some recruiting
Jabari Gorman is thrilled with his relationship with the Gator coaching staff and says he is not being seriously pursued by other schools. Gorman, a safety from Monsignor Pace in Miami, committed to Florida earlier this month during the Under Armour All-America Game.Four-star Florida commit
"I hear from them everyday," Gorman said of the Florida coaching staff. "These coaches are pretty much family."
Speaking of family, members of Florida's coaching staff have offered support to Gorman after his mother was recently hospitalized. "I'm actually able to get calls from coaches about how my mom is doing," he said. "I really appreciate that."
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Gorman is ranked by Rivals as the 10th best safety prospect in the class of 2011.
It was thought that with a new coaching staff in place, the hometown Miami Hurricanes might make a run at some of the local talent.
That belief was further advanced when UM was able to lure Thomas Finnie away from South Carolina.
However, with Gorman being solid to the Gators, he is instead been promoting Florida amongst his Miami-Dade County friends.
"I'm staying in touch with Denzel Perryman and Elkino Watson," he said. Perryman, a linebacker out of Coral Gables (Fla.) High School, committed to Miami last week. Watson, a defensive tackle from nearby Miami Booker T. Washington High School, is undecided. He lists Florida among his finalists.
"I don't go too hard at them" he said. "We understand it's a personal decision."
