You know the deal in college basketball recruiting by now: One school, two big stars equals one heck of a day.

There's just one catch ... it wasn't Kentucky this time.

The University of Washington landed two big recruits Friday, 6-8 forward Terrence Jones and 6-5 guard Terrence Ross - both of Portland (Ore.) Jefferson High, though they didn't play together last season.

Jones is a five-star recruit listed at No. 13 in the Rivals 150 for the Class of 2010.

He averaged 32 points and 13 rebounds per game this season and helped Jefferson to a third consecutive state title. He was rated among the top 20 high school recruits in the country. He also was considering five other schools: Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Oklahoma and UCLA.

Ross is a four-star recruit listed at No. 48.

Ross played with Jones at Jefferson as a sophomore before transferring to a school in Maryland. He returned to Jefferson midway through his senior season in hopes of playing with Jones but could not due to transfer rules.

"Terrence Ross is rare in that he possesses a high-level combination of athleticism and is yet an outstanding shooter. He's just scratching the surface as how good he can be," Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said in a statement. "He will definitely help with us trying to become a better shooting basketball team. He gives us instant help in that regard."

NCAA rules prohibit Washington officials from commenting on Jones until they receive his letter of intent.

Washington went 26-10 overall last season (11-7) in the Pac-10 and advanced to the Sweet 16, where it lost to West Virginia.

The biggest loser Friday may be the state of Oregon as two top stars went north, spurning Oregon and Oregon State.

With their announcements, only four members of the Rivals 150 remain uncommitted: No. 45 Luke Cothron, No. 100 Geron Johnson, No. 121 Marcus Thornton and No. 128 Julian Washburn. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
