Ducks checking out Midwest DT
One of the top players in the State of Minnesota next year will be Minnetonka's Beau Allen who has been receiving recruiting interest in the Midwest and now across the country.
"I have written offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Nebraska, and Vanderbilt," Allen told Duck Sports Authority. "I have not chosen a top five yet, but Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota, have the leg up."
For the Ducks, Chip Kelly picked up the slack in Allen's recruitment while hiring a new defensive line coach. Now that Jerry Azzinaro is in place, he is taking over the lead.
"I have been recruited by Chip Kelly," responded Allen. "I have been getting E-mails from him. I was asking about the effect that coaching staff changes will have on the team and recruiting and priorities. I have also been talking to defensive line Coach Jerry Azzinaro. Oregon has not offered me a scholarship, but they do want me to attend the Nike Camp in Eugene in June. They are interested in me."
Allen made note of the coaching changes as a positive.
"I think they are a program on the rise," Allen stated. "They have a great new coaching staff. I am excited about them. I have heard great things about the facilities. I am interested in Oregon, and it wouldn't be a problem moving. My parents have been supportive, and have given me the reigns to choose who I want."
While he was not certain which position on the defensive interior he will play in college, for the Ducks he could play in an even or odd front.
