Steward drawing considerable interest

A name beginning to surface on recruiting boards around the country is defensive tackle Churphy Steward of Breaux Bridge, La.

The 6-foot-2, 278-pounder is receiving interest from some 14 different programs scattered across the nation.

"Recruiting is going pretty good," Steward said. "I've got a lot of schools after me right now"

So far Louisiana Tech is the only program to offer Steward but he is receiving plenty of attention from Mississippi State, Air Force, TCU, Kansas State, LSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Northwestern, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Louisiana-Lafayette and Boise State.

Mississippi State is one school that has sparked some interest from the massive Steward. He stated that he plans on making a trip to Starkville for spring practice in the coming weeks.

"I'm looking at Mississippi State and want to come visit during their spring practice," Steward said. "They are sending me letters. I really don't know that much about them yet because I just started getting letters from them a couple of weeks ago."

Steward could become a package deal with his brother Treyvias Alexander, a wide receiver from Hinds Community College that the Bulldogs are also actively recruiting.
