Hagan nearing more offers?

Last month Illinois helped ease any anxiety that Chad Hagan might have had regarding the recruiting process by offering the talented safety.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defensive back from Canonsburg (Pa.) Canon McMillan runs the 40-yard dash in 4.45 seconds and has all the tools to become an all-conference player at the college level. Thus, it's reasonable to assume that more offers are on the way.

But where will they come from?

"I'm actually supposed to visit Pitt soon. I think they're supposed to offer. My recruiting coach tells me they're getting close (to offering). They want me to meet with the coaches first, though.

"Penn State is getting close, too, and so is Ohio State. I talked to coach (Luke) Fickle from Ohio State the other day and he said they're getting close to offering me. They want me to come back up for a visit. So it's basically the same thing as with Pitt. I think they want me to talk to the coaches a little bit. They're going to break down some more film and then they should offer later in the spring."

While offers from any of those schools would certainly have Hagan excited he's not forgetting about the first school to put a scholarship out there.

"I'm really excited that (Illinois) offered," he said. "It's nice that my first offer is from a really good program. They're pretty good every year and they do well in the Big Ten. The coach that's recruiting me (Jim Pry) is a down to earth guy."

So where does he go from here?

"I'm going to visit Penn State, Pitt and Ohio State for sure. Illinois wants me to come down for a spring practice so I'll probably do that. Michigan invited me but I'm not sure I'll go.

"Those are some of my favorites, definitely. Illinois is up there obviously, because they've shown the most interest. There are some others like West Virginia and Michigan that are showing interest. But I'd say everyone is at medium interest and then the ones I've mentioned are at the top."

As a junior Hagan had 88 carries for 720 yards on offense while recording 61 tackles on defense.
