Perry excited to begin round of Junior Days

Austin (Texas) Bowie wide receiver DeAndre Perry has been anxiously waiting for the recruiting process to begin in earnest.

As a sophomore, Perry emerged as one of the state's top wide receiver prospects and after a full year of early courtship, the real fun begins this weekend.

"I've been invited to several Junior Days and I'm going to my first one this weekend at Texas A&M," Perry said. "I'm also going to a Junior Day at LSU and I'm going to one at Texas."

The 6-2, 208-pound Perry, who is still waiting for his first offer, said that he's making plans to make each visit with an open mind.

"I just want to get to know everyone better and see what the programs are about," Perry said. "I'm just excited to have this opportunity. I'm keeping an open mind and don't really have any favorites.

As far as the Longhorns are concerned, Perry mentioned that he's not quite sure which day he's scheduled to visit the 40 Acres.

"Bobby Kennedy and Greg Davis are the coaches that are recruiting me. I talk to them both," Perry, who indicated that his conversations with the Texas staff are weekly to bi-weekly, said.

As a junior, Perry was one of the top receivers in the Central Texas, as he hauled in 35 passes for 508 yards and four touchdowns. With his combination of size and skill as a receiver, he's emerged as the state's No.47 prospect in the most recent Lone Star Recruiting update.
