COLUMBUS, Ohio-Technically, Ohio State's year in sports, 2013 edition, isn't over yet. The men's basketball team faces Purdue Dec. 31, beginning Big Ten play.

But for now, let's pretend like that game isn't going to happen. And unless something crazy occurs in West Lafayette Tuesday afternoon, that contest wouldn't have affected the following, anyway.

For Buckeye fans, the past 12 months on the gridiron and hardwood have been exciting and nerve-wracking, joyful and depressing. The men's basketball team's calendar year included a Big Ten tournament championship, an Elite Eight appearance, and an undefeated start to the 2013-14 season. The football team went undefeated in the regular season for the second-straight year before losing to Michigan State in the Big Ten championship, earning a berth to the Orange Bowl to face Clemson.

The Buckeyes battle against the Tigers in Miami will start off the 2014 athletic year for Ohio State. If 2014 is anything like 2013 was, everyone-fans and sports journalists alike-will be happy.

But before 2014 begins, let's take a look back on 2013.

Without further ado, here is BuckeyeGrove.com's 2013 year in review.
