Meyer on Evan Spencer: 'It's over, he's a good kid'

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In his last formal appearance with the media before a road trip to unraked Illinois, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer met with the media Wednesday after practice.



Meyer -- who has guided the No. 3-ranked Buckeyes to 21-straight wins -- and company will have the chance to tie the program record for longest winning streak Saturday against the Fighting Illinois.



Meyer, though, like he's done often this season, downplayed the notion of accomplishing such a feat. In particular, he said it wouldn't serve as a distraction against a 3-6 Illinois team.



"I don't want to devalue it because I think when you start talking about this great program and the length of that streak," he said said. "But it might be motivation."



Meyer said it could be a reward for the players on his squad.



"We'll discuss it if something like that happens," he said.
