Five wins, five observations

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After a laughably weak non-conference slate of games, Ohio State passed its first test of the season, taking down Wisconsin, 31-24, in a prime time battle Saturday at Ohio Stadium.



The Buckeyes -- winners of their last 17 games -- will need to do a lot more to prove their worth outside of the state of Ohio and the Big Ten conference.



With its annual hate fest with Wisconsin in the books, that endeavour starts against No. 16 Northwestern Saturday in Evanston, Ill., in yet another night time showdown.



To see where you're going, though, you must often first take a look back.



Here's some things to keep in mind as the Buckeyes get ready for the Wildcats this week.



The win against the Badgers -- while undoubtedly solid -- was less-than-glorious. From now on, style points (mainly against clearly inferior foes) will start to matter -- even if Urban Meyer insists they don't. Such is life when your schedule features only two more bouts with ranked opponents.
