Louis-Jean de-commits

Brockton, Mass. cornerback Albert Louis-Jean thought about it for a few days after Miami head coach Randy Shannon was fired and decided to de-commit from the Hurricanes and open up the process again. The 6-foot-1, 172-pounder is no longer a 'Cane.

"We de-committed today," said Louis-Jean's father, also named Albert. "It just came down to coach Shannon being let go. The main reason Albert wanted to go to Miami was because of what coach Shannon was doing down there -- keeping kids out of trouble, taking care of his players, making sure they were good student-athletes. I don't think people realize how hard that is to do down there and as a father, I just can't send my son down there without knowing a coach has his best interests in mind. Randy Shannon was someone I felt comfortable with and his staff as well. Now it looks like it will be a whole new group."

Louis-Jean's father said numerous phone calls from many schools have come in but only wanted to mention three schools right now.

"Penn State and Boston College are both in the picture because he has taken official visits there and is comfortable with the coaches," he said. "He has three officials left and will probably take all of those or at least a couple of them. Miami is still in the picture but that is something we will keep an eye on in regards to who they hire and how they fill out their staff. Right now it just seems best to open things back up."

Louis-Jean is ranked as the No. 12 cornerback in the country but many schools have talked about offense as well. Other schools that had offered before he made his Miami commitment back in March include UConn, Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and others. As of right now it is unclear what schools he is in contact with aside from the Nittany Lions and Eagles.

"We're talking to some schools and I'm sure some others will call but until we get things squared up as far as scheduled visits and all that we're not going to say who," his father said. "We'll know pretty soon I'm sure."
