#1 JC WR has Ducks in top three

Junior college players are not the first option for top Division-I programs. Generally they prefer high school seniors that they can groom over time into their system. When JC players do get the offers from these elite programs, it's generally as LOI day draws closer. It works differently for the best of the junior college players.

College of San Mateo wide receiver Rahsaan Vaughn is one such player. Rated as the #1 JC wide receiver in the nation by JCGridiron.com, the Rivals three-star athlete also plays for a very strong San Mateo squad. Duck Sports Authority asked him how his season was progressing.

"We're doing well so far," replied Vaughn. "We're 5-0 and hopefully we'll be able to keep that up. So it's going well."

Personally Vaughn is helping the team in a big way. DSA pressed him for his personal statistics. "In five games I have eight touchdowns and well-over 500 yards. I'm not sure on the number of receptions but I have a lot so I'm doing well right now."

On film it is clear that the San Mateo star is big and fast with a 6-foot-2 frame and sub 4.5-speed. He gave an assessment of his best on-the-field qualities.

"I'm able to catch the ball and get yards after the catch," evaluated Vaughn. "I'm good with deep balls and jump balls so I think I have strengths all across the board. But there are always things to be worked on."

In terms of recruiting, Vaughn has three schools on the top of his list, two from the Pac-10 and one from the future Pac-12.
