The running back board without Wilder Jr.

This past Wednesday when five-star athlete James Wilder Jr. chose Florida State over Florida, the Gators lost out on one of the top prospects in the state this recruiting cycle, but the Gator coaching staff should be able to find some comfort in the fact that the loss comes at a position where they are still very much in the running for several top tier prospects.

Currently there are four scholarship running backs on the UF roster. They are: Senior Emmanuel Moody, junior Jeff Demps, sophomore Mike Gillislee and true freshman Mack Brown.

That of course means that by the time any player signed in the class of 2011 arrives on campus, UF will have but three scholarship backs, and only one underclassman (Brown) on the roster.

Florida could stand to sign two backs in the class of 2011, but as it stands now, the board may not be expansive enough. However, even with Wilder Jr. off the board, the Gators should be able to add at least one top tier running back this recruiting cycle.

Today will break down the remaining options at the position.
