Stanko shines at Ohio State camp

Thursday was day one of Ohio State's two-day underclassman camp and Warren (Ohio) Howland high offensive tackle Anthony Stanko didn't disappoint anyone there that was looking for a dominant lineman. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder is already a beast in the weight room but showed that he is much more than a power lifter on the field.

"On the field I felt that I did pretty well today," Stanko said. "We did some bag drills and I felt that I really showed what I could do there."

As a class of 2012 player there are no written offers yet but schools have been taking quick notice to one of the state's top prospects for his class. While a camp setting is all about getting better Stanko believed that he was able to show as well what has so many college recruiters interested in.

"I have shown how quick my feet are and I have always taken pride in how quick my feet are for being such a big guy, 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, but I feel like I can move fairly quick." Stanko said.

Stanko will head to South Bend (Ind.) on Monday for Notre Dame's camp and the Irish join the Bucks as two top teams that stand out here early in the process.

"I feel that if I had the chance now, if I were offered, I would go to either Ohio State or Notre Dame," Stanko said. "I really haven't gotten a chance to see anywhere else other than West Virginia. I feel like Ohio State would be number one right now."

While the top two programs have stood out there are some other schools that Stanko would definitely like to hear from.

"I could see myself playing at either (Ohio State or Notre Dame)," Stanko said. "Other places that I would consider looking at would be Florida, Penn State and Michigan State."

Stanko has the size that he could either play inside or outside on the line but he has a preference if it was all up to him.

"I like playing tackle," Stanko said. "I did play guard for one year as a freshman. I liked it there but I like being on the outside more and I get to show off my pass blocking skills more."
