Brown talks spring, UA commitment
Adel (GA) Cook linebacker Shannon Brown was one of the first prospects to commit to the Alabama Crimson Tide's 2011 recruiting class and has held firm since then despite holding offers from nearly every major program in the South. This spring, Brown, continued to build on a successful junior season with a productive spring practice.
"We just finished with spring practice last week," said Brown. "I feel like I did really well overall this spring and really worked on a few things that needed improving. I'm not really planning to go to any camps or combines or anything like that this summer. I'm going to be focused on getting to the season healthy and in shape so I can put my best effort on the field."
While Brown has maintained his commitment to the Crimson Tide since February, other top programs have continue to aggressively recruit the 6-foot-2, 235-pound defender and Brown said he plans to take a closer look at one of those other programs this fall.
"I am definitely still committed to Alabama, but I want to make sure I don't overlook someone else and never give them a chance. Right now, I've been talking to Coach (Ted) Roof at Auburn a lot and he and I have a pretty good relationship. I want to go take a look at Auburn this fall for an official visit and just see how they do things there and make sure I give them a fair look."
While Brown's planned official visit to Auburn may cause concern for some Tide fans, the Rivals250 to Watch member said he remains committed to the Tide and happy with his choice.
"I'm not unhappy at all with anything about Alabama. I just feel like it's the right thing for me to do to give everybody a fair look so I know for sure that I made the right decision."
