Delaware OL picks up first offer

For most prospects the moment when they receive their first offer is exhilarating and rewarding. Evan Mulrooney can attest to that.

The 6-foot-4, 282-pound offensive tackle from Wilmington (Del.) Salesianum School just picked up his first offer of the recruiting process and he couldn't be any happier.

"I got an offer from Maryland last night," Mulrooney exlaimed. "I was blown away. I can't describe how excited I feel about it. It's the first one and I'm just so excited. It's real rewarding to feel that all the stuff I've been working for has paid off.

"I expected it to come sometime but I didn't expect it last night. They were hinting at it a lot, and I guess they liked me down there from what the coaches said. I was just getting a vibe, but it's not like I'm a seasoned vet when it comes to getting offers."

Mulrooney was at the Maryland-Duke basketball game, won by the Terrapins, and the entire experience has him excited about the school.

"I think it's great," he said. "They gave me three tickets (for the game) and that was awesome. We got a mini tour for a junior night. It wasn't a junior day. It was more like a shorter junior night.

"We had a tour of the facilities, which was great. The coaches are all really great guys. I like them a lot. They're right up there as far as my favorites right now. I like everything about it."

Mulrooney said Nebraska, NC State, Michigan State and Illinois are some of the schools that have just recently started to show interest.

While he is high on Maryland, he went on to say he would be open to any school that is willing to offer him.

"I don't like a lot of attention," he noted. "So I'll probably have my decision before my senior season starts."
