Richardson willing to listen if Spartans resurface

At one point during his recruitment, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes three-star wide receiver Torian Richardson was planning to add his name to Michigan State's 2010 recruiting class, but after the Spartans secured commitments from Tony Lippett (Detroit Crockett) and Keith Mumphery (Vienna, Ga.), wide receiver recruiting ended for MSU.

But with MSU's recent off the field incidents leading to the suspension of six scholarship receivers, at this point it's uncertain who is expected to return to the roster, and that could lead the Spartans to looking for more talent at the position before signing day.

So far there haven't been any strong indications that the Spartans are recruiting receivers again, but when SpartanMag.com caught up with Richardson earlier this week, he said a member of the MSU staff was in contact with one of his coaches last week.

"One of the coaches was supposed to call me," the 5-10, 170-pound Richardson said of what his coach told him. "That was probably last Friday sometime. He didn't call, so I haven't really talked to anyone from Michigan State."

Richardson said he might make a call to MSU, but right now he's staying focused on three schools.

"East Carolina, Mississippi State and Louisville," he said. "I think Louisville is about to get another head coach, and I'm going to find out who that's going to be."
