October 29, 2007 It was another week in the world of high school football and that means another bevy of impressive performances for Ohio State targets and commitments. This weekend there were several high profile games with big time performances. One of the most impressive performances was turned in by OSU target Terrelle Pryor.DeVier Posey: The season came to an end for Posey with a win over Dayton Thurgood Marshall by the score of 50-6. Individually for Posey it was a quiet day. He only made one catch for five yards, but it was for a score. For the season Posey made 48 catches for 776 yards and eight touchdowns. All season long Posey was the dominant force for the LaSalle offense. J.B. Shugarts: It was somewhat of a disappointing weekend for Shugarts and his Klein teammates. They fell by the score of 41-17, but Shugarts did help open holes. His team ran for 234 yards, and Shugarts recorded double-digit pancake blocks. Jake Stoneburner and Mike Adams: As expected it was an easy day at the offense for Dublin Coffman. Stoneburner only played in the first half where he made four catches for 80 yards. Adams was a dominant force on the line helping the Shamrocks to a 63-0 win. Devoe Torrence: A season that will not be soon forgotten in Stark County concluded on Saturday with a 23-20 win for Massillon over Canton McKinley. While things weren't always smooth at Massillon for Torrence, he did finish his season with 1,062 yards rushing. On Saturday against the Bulldogs he finished strong with 134 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries. Nathan Williams: Anytime that Miami Trace and Washington Court House get together it is a battle. On Friday it was Williams and Miami Trace that came away with a wild 42-40 win. In the game Williams had 77 yards rushing, and was as usual a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball making things difficult to run the ball inside. Nic DiLillo: For Madison High School the regular season came to an end with a heartbreaking 21-20 loss. In the game DiLillo recorded six catches for 50 yards. Even with the loss Madison snuck into the playoffs as the eight seed. Andrew Sweat: It has been an up and down season Washington (Pa.) Trinity High School, but on Friday they were on the good side. Washington won the game 38-18, and Sweat made double-digit tackles to help control the game Trinity on defense. Ben Buchanan: A dynamite high school career came to an end on Friday night. Westerville Central fell by a touchdown. In the game Buchanan made all four of extra points and also averaged 41 yards on a pair of punts. Terrelle Pryor: With Jim Tressel and Thad Matta looking on, Pryor put together one of the most impressive displays that has been seen all season long. The super athlete was 8-14 throwing the ball for 142 yards and three touchdowns. Running the ball he managed 152 yards on 10 carries with three scores. Overall Jeannette moves to 9-0 with a 42-6 win. Isaiah Pead: One of the most productive seasons in Ohio came to a disappointing end on Friday. Even though Eastmoor Academy won by the commanding margin of 42-0, they fell just short of the playoffs. For the game Pead rushed for 270 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. For the season Pead passed the 2,000 yard mark rushing the ball. Cordale Scott: It looked like Cleveland South might be able to challenge Glenville, but it just didn't happen. The Tarblooders crushed South by the score of 53-0. In the game Scott made three catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. The Tarblooders are now in the playoffs where they will face off against Cleveland St. Ignatius. Orhian Johnson: It was a big game for Johnson. Playing quarterback for Boca Ciega High School, Johnson helped his team to a dominating 28-0n win. For the game he finished with 252 yards passing and two touchdowns. Storm Klein: Licking Valley finished their great season with a 49-21 win over Columbus Academy. In the game Klein went off for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only 10 carries. Jordan Whiting: The other Buckeye commitment in the 2009 class is Whiting. He had a somewhat quiet game by his standards. Whiting only recorded five tackles in Trinity's 41-7 win. |
