Local product transferring back to Fresno State
After one semester on the other side of the map at one of the most prestigious football schools in America, former Clovis West High School product Chris Lewis is headed back to the Central Valley from Miami and has enrolled at Fresno State. Once his release becomes official he will be cleared to practice with Bulldogs and hopes to earn a scholarship after sitting out a year.
"It has been in the works for a week or two," Lewis said. "There are some family health issues going on. I kind of underestimated my family and what it means to me."
Lewis is currently 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds and was rated the #9 weakside defensive end in the country according to Rivals.com and the #45 overall player from California for the recruiting class of 2006. He says the release is just a formality at this point.
"The coach has released me but it hasn't gone though yet," Lewis said. "As soon as I get cleared, I will be able to practice."
