Spartans impress S.C. wideout
Earlier this month, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes three-star wide receiver Torian Richardson took a trip to the Midwest, where he stopped by the campuses of Michigan State and Louisville.
When SpartanMag.com caught up with the 5-10, 169-pound Richardson Thursday night, he talked about his stop in East Lansing, an unofficial visit he said he really enjoyed.
"The facilities impressed me the most. And what really got me is when I talked to Coach (Don) Treadwell and he was comparing me to a receiver that they had, Devin Thomas," Richardson said. "He was comparing me to him when he was showing me clips of them, and he was telling me that's what they want me to do for them. So that really stuck out to me the most."
"They said they really like my speed and they like what I do after I catch the ball," Richardson added of what the Spartans like about his abilities.
Richardson has been on the Spartan radar for some time now, and when asked when he was offered by MSU, he said, "That was a long time ago, it was my first offer." He added that his first offer "really means a lot."
After Richardson was offered by MSU he called head coach Mark Dantonio, and he still has strong impressions of that conversation with the Spartan leader.
"I really like Coach Dantonio. He's a straight-up coach," Richardson said. "He doesn't tell you all the stuff that a lot of coaches tell you, like what you want to hear
He just tells you straight-up that he wants you. He's a straight-up guy and I really like that."
