Rbk U Brings '09 'Nova Recruiting In Focus
Along with the opportunity to see plenty of great young talent all in one gym, there is always plenty of buzz, rumor and solid information to be heard in and around gym at a major summer camp.
Things are no different at this year's Rbk U event being held at Philly U (action comes to a close today).
Though there isn't a lot of 2008 info to be had, the 2009 plan of attack for the Cats is becoming clearer.
Here are some player notes from Sunday and Monday action at Rbk U. This article will be followed up through the week with player-by-player article with stats and analysis.
Class of 2009:
With Scottie Reynolds, Corey Fisher, Malcolm Grant already in the fold and the recent verbal from Maalik Wayns the recruiting focus for Villanova in the '09 class becomes a) finding a couple of big forwards and b) finding a big guard who can both shoot the outside jumper and attack off the dribble.
The priorities for the big forward spots appear to be Greg Echenique (St. Benedict's, NJ) (not playing at Rbk U) and Isaiah Armwood. The guard priorities now appear to be (in no particular order), Dexter Strickland (St. Patrick's, NJ) (not playing at Rbk U), Nolan Dennis (North Richland Hills, TX) and Dominic Cheek (St. Anthony, NJ). All three of these players are ranked in the Top 15 in the Rival ranking of the top players in the Class of 2009. At this stage, 'Nova is involved with a slew of Top 50 players at positions of need in 2009 - the class could turn out to be a very strong one for Coach Wright and his staff.
