April 15 marked the first day of the recruiting contact period, and a day removed from spring football, USC was getting a jump on the competition. In previous years under Lane Kiffn, the USC coaching staff made most of their contacts before sunrise. With April 15 falling on a Sunday, USC got a jump on most schools by a day instead of by hours.
