Diamond close to narrowing his list

One of the top offensive tackle prospects in the nation is getting close to narrowing his list. Jordan Diamond, a 6-foot-6, 289-pound prospect from Chicago (Ill.) Simeon is being heavily recruited by many of the nation's top programs. BuckeyeGrove.com caught up with Diamond on Wednesday afternoon as the big tackle gets ready to trim his list in the near future.
"I'm getting ready to narrow my list down here in a few weeks," he said. "I'd like to get it down to 10 schools before the season."
While there are still a few spots up for grabs on his final ten schools list, Diamond already knows half of the schools that will make the cut.
"Michigan, Wisconsin, Auburn, Tennessee, and Iowa for sure," he said.
One school that is fighting hard for one of the final five spots is Ohio State. Diamond has been to campus already and says he is still looking at the Buckeyes.
"I'm in the process of evaluating Ohio State," he explained. "I'm going to give it a few weeks and see what the NCAA does but they are a school that I'm looking at."
Diamond went on to say that severe punishment from the NCAA would eliminate Ohio State, however if the NCAA punishment was not severe, the Buckeyes would stand a strong chance at making the cut.
"They would probably be around five or six on my list," he said. "If the penalties aren't too bad they would definitely be on the list."
It's no secret that the Buckeyes are in need of offensive tackles in this class, especially with the commitment of Kyle Kalis to Michigan over the weekend. The move of Kalis from Ohio State to Michigan hasn't really effected either school's position though, according to Diamond.
"Not really," he said. "As far as his decision, he made the decision he thought was the best for him so I don't blame him for that. It is just part of the recruiting business."
Diamond says a decision likely won't come until at least December.
"More than likely it's going to be after the season," he said. "I am going to take all five of my official visits so my decision will be after the season and after I take those visits."
