Spartans hope to add standout athlete
One of the top players on the board for the Michigan State Spartans is James Farrow of Minnesota. SpartanMag.com caught up with the 3-star standout from Minnetonka High Schools and got the details on his recruitment.
A few weeks ago Farrow opened his recruitment back up after an initial commitment to the Gophers. Michigan State had Farrow high on the board and immediately made him a priority recruit for the class of 2011. SpartanMag.com asked the 6-foot-0, 180-pound Farrow about his offers and what schools are standing out.
"I have 13 offers all together including Michigan State, Farrow stated. I really like what I saw on my unofficial visit there and I think Michigan State definitely has the potential to be the school I play for. I am looking to make my decision in the next few weeks.
What are the factors that are most important to Farrow when it comes to making his college choice?
The relationship with the coaches, my parent's opinion and how I feel about the school not only athletically but also academically and socially."
Farrow was in Michigan a few weeks ago at the Sound-Mind/Sound-Body Camp held at Wayne State. He was singled out by those in attendance for his outstanding level of play. The consensus of many in attendance was he was the best defensive back at the event. SpartanMag.com asked Farrow about his contact with the Michigan State coaches and where they see him at on the field.
"We talk pretty frequently he stated. I actually just spoke with them yesterday. Coach (Brad) Salem and Coach (Harlon) Barnett are the ones I speak with the most. They say they like ne as a cornerback, maybe some free safety and special teams."
The special teams aspect is something that could be a big bonus for the Spartans if Farrow ends up in Green. Last fall he excelled on returns for 8 High School. This year Farrow indicated that bringing home a state championship is a top priority.
SpartanMag.com will be sure follow Farrow's recruitment in the coming weeks. If Michigan State is able to add Farrow tot the class of 2011, it will give them another dynamic player in the secondary.
