Star prospect has good visit to Tech
Virginia Tech had plenty of recruits on campus for the Maroon White Spring Game. Among the list was a star prospect Frank Beamer and the Hokies are taking a hard look at. What did he think of the visit?
"It was good," Manassas (Va.) Osbourn Park athlete Dominique Terrell said. "I saw a lot of stuff I liked.
"I liked how they throw the receivers the ball and put them in space. They bring their guys in motion and put them on an island outside."
The visit to Tech was Terrell's first ever for a game in Blacksburg.
"For a spring game, it was a lot of people," he said. "I can't imagine what it is for a real game especially when a high ranked opponent comes in. I was really surprised.
"I liked the defensive backs in the game too. They were really nice."
While on campus, the Rivals250 prospect met with his recruiter, Torrian Gray.
"I talked to Coach Gray a lot and I also talked to the wide receivers coach, Coach Sherman," he said. "They showed me around and showed me a lot of stuff in the weight room.
"Coach Sherman and I got to talk more and they both showed me how I fit in. Coach Gray told me they want me in the slot and would like to run me in the wildcat some too. If that doesn't work, then I could always move to the defensive side of the ball. That's cool, but I want to be on offense."
The only other spring game Terrell has attended so far was Virginia. How did it compare?
"There were a lot of differences including the way the facilities are set up and how the field is right next to their offices," he said. "The offense was a lot different than Virginia's too. It's a good difference.
"I think the visit helped them out a little bit."
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder maintains no leaders at this time.
However, one more visit at this time is coming later this week.
"I'm going to West Virginia on Friday for their spring game. I'm kind of done with visits for now after that."
