French turning heads on the track
A number of people at Cedar Rapids Kennedy were ecstatic this spring when Christian French decided to run track for the first time in his high school career. It did not take long to find out why as the talented junior won the 100 meter dash in a blazing 10.70 seconds in the first outdoor meet of the season at Kingston Stadium this week.
What makes French's speed so impressive is not just his lack of track experience, but his size. At 6-foot-6 and 218 pounds, he often dwarfs the competition and as he continues to work on his form, should be able to bring his times down even more.
With that kind of size and speed, it is not hard to see why French is such a highly sought after football prospect. Currently, he holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Missouri, and may have one from Kansas State on the way shortly.
